End of story for MediaWorks’ Story?

Story co-hosts Duncan Garner and Heather du Plessis-Allan (TV3)

Story, the current affairs show that replaced Campbell Live following its controversial canning, is reportedly going the way of its predecessor.

It’s been reported by Stuff this afternoon that the show’s staff had been into individual meetings to be told the show was being cancelled, with the final episode planned to air on December 16.

That story follows a piece written by Mark Jennings, MediaWorks’ former head of news, and published on The Spinoff yesterday that confidently stated Paul Henry has quit MediaWorks and that Story co-host Duncan Garner would be taking over the departing broadcaster’s role on the cross-platform breakfast show that airs on TV3 and RadioLIVE.

MediaWorks has yet to respond to requests for comment on the apparently well-sourced rumours.

About time. HDA is like that typical "omg really" persona.

OMG!! You know what the impending demise of 'Story' means, don't you. Mike Hosking's conceit quotient will go right through TVNZ's effin' roof.

He'll affect a more languid pose, a more too-cool-for-school demeanour on his vanity-complected dial, more of a hero to all the metrosexuals out there.

God, I will miss that guy. Nobody in NZ can touch him. I'll be further gutted if he ends up in the USA

I'd suggest TV3 go full satire and make a Like Mike tv show with Jeremy Wells playing Mike Hosking. A la Stephen Colbert show.

Just not sure NZ has the pool of writers strong enough to support it over time.
